CWA Book of the Year Awards

Thank you to the Chicago Writers Association for naming The Carnival at Bray a finalist in the traditional fiction category of the CWA 2015 Book of the Year Awards! I join finalists Lori Rader-Day and Peter Ferry in this honor. Winners are announced December 1.

Baby News and October Appearances

My website has been languishing away for the past few months, but I promise I have a good excuse: Our second daughter, Sheila Eileen, was born June 8! We are very busy and very in love 🙂

I have two exciting events coming up this week:

First, I’ll be speaking at the Illinois Association of Teachers of English Fall Conference on Friday, 10/16 at 2:00. These are my people. I’m very excited.

Second, I’m going to be a panelist at the Texas Book Festival on Sunday, 10/18 in Austin. I’ve heard such great things about this fest (and about Austin, where I’ve never been before!), and am super excited to be a part of it. Stop by if you’re in the area!
